This Place Matters
by Sarah Heffern on May 13th, 2008May is National Preservation Month, and to celebrate, we’re kicking off a new campaign called “This Place Matters.” We’re asking you to tell us about places that matter — large and small, nationally significant and personally priceless. We’re collecting photos and stories on our website and videos on our YouTube channel.
We’ve already heard about some great places that matter, including:
- a historic brothel and saloon in Gainesville, Texas that now houses a restaurant and bed & breakfast;
- a schoool in Cloverfork, Kentucky that graduated its first class in 1927 and will see its last off this year;
- the historic Main Street community of Geneva, Nebraska; and
- Boston’s famed Fanueil Hall.
